How much does Spray Foam Insulation cost?
The cost depends on the amount of preparation, roof repairs, condition of flashings and lead work, number of tile/slate replacements, the size of the roof, the area needing foam, the depth of foam and the specification of the foam used. Based upon your description, we can usually provide you with a "ball park" estimate over the 'phone. Please complete the free online roof survey form and we will get back to you to provide a ball park estimate. If you are happy with that we will do a free survey to give you an exact price.
Are Iso Spray's Roof Insulation prices competitive?
Very. We believe that we are the lowest cost professional spray foam insulation company operating in the UK today. Our prices are anywhere from 30 to 50% less expensive than any other recognised spray foam company. If you receive quotes from any other professional and recognised spray foam company we guarantee that our quote will be more competitive.
Is Iso-Spray Foam guaranteed?
Yes. We guarantee that the foam will give a minimum service life of at least 25 years. In fact, tests indicate that the product will have a indefinte service life and as long as the spray foam is not subjected to UV light from the sun it will last the life of the building. In the unlikely event you have a problem with the foam we guarantee that it will be repaired free of charge.
How long does the work take to install roof insulation?
It will depend on ease of access and acessibility, the condition of the roof, the repairs needed, the size of the roof and the depth of foam needed to achive the U value or insulation value required. A typical 1930's semi detached house is usually completed in 1 to 2 days. A a typical large detached house roof with typical problems will usually be completed within 2 to 3 days. An industrial contract can normally be done at the rate of 150 metres per day per sprayer.
Is the polyurethane spray foam fire resistant?
Yes, it has been tested by independently and the foams that Iso-Spray use have all achieved a class 1 fire rating. This means that the polyurethane foam does not spread flame and resist the surface spread of flame and does not constitute an undue fire hazard. Our surveyors will show you a fire test on the foam and compare that to the flammable foams being imported from continential Europe by some spray foam companies. Using a non rated foam and not British Standard Class 1 is not acceptable on a domestic roof and Iso-spray will not install these type foams as a matter of policy. Non rated foams are cheap for sure but do you want a fire bomb installed?
Do you send a salesperson to do the roof insulation survey?
Absolutely not. We do not employ salespeople in any in any event. A trained surveyor will do the roof survey and a written quotation for the work needed will be posted. A survey on most domestic properties can be completed within 20 minutes.
Is the roof survey free?
Yes. We do not charge you for providing a fixed price quote which is the purpose of the survey. A survey is needed once you have indicated that the telephone estimate is acceptable to you. Please help us to keep our costs low by only requesting a survey once you have had a telephone estimate and you are in a position to proceed to a foam installtion.
Has Iso-Spray's polyurethane foam been laboratory tested?
Yes. Isothane, one of our suppliers, have previously submitted the product for testing by the British Board of Agrement (BBA). It is manufactured by Isothane to strict British Standards to produce a product that does “what it says on the can”. The product is also specified by architects, local authorities and major house builders. It is an established and well respected product within the building industry and provides excellent roof insulation.
Will you give me an indication of cost of the foam insulation over the ‘phone?
Yes. Before we come and do a survey, which is free, we will provide you with an estimate over the phone, please use the free online roof survey form. If the estimate is acceptable to you only then do we come and do the survey since there is little point in using your valuable time if the estimate is a “I need to think about it”. The purpose of the survey is not to sell to you, it is to provide you with an exact fixed price for the job which should be, hopefully, within plus or minus 10% of the estimated cost.
If I have roof tiles or slates missing or damaged does it matter?
The foam is meant to bond your roof and does not take the place of tiles or slates. Any missing, cracked or damaged tiles or slates will be replaced before foaming as part of the work to get the roof back into excellent serviceable and good visual order. The replacement tiles or sltes will be carefully matched to ensure the roof does not look like a patch work quilt. The roof surveyor will be able to advise you on the roof repairs required.
Are the polyurethane foams that Iso-Spray use toxic?
No. It is an inert and safe and gives no foam off gases unlike formaldehyde foams. The polyurethane foam contains no nutritional value and is therefore unattractive to vermin.
I have heard that foam causes timbers to rot. Can this happen?
No. The foam allows timbers to naturally breathe. The foam is a semi permeable vapour barrier, it allows timbers to breath and lets damp out but does not allow damp to enter and it will not cause timbers to rot. When rot is found in foam sprayed roofs it is not because of the foam but because the roof has not been repaired and has allowed water to enter and rot the timbers. This would have happened even without the foam. We take great care that a roof is waterproof and serviceable before spraying foam.
Does Iso-Spray's Roof Insulation Foam allow the timbers to breath?
Yes. An Iso-Spray specified foam allows structural timbers to naturally breathe so that they do not hold damp and therefore start to rot. The product cannot cure already rotting timbers; these will need to be replaced when work commences but the product will help prevent future damp/dry rot developing in the future by the additives present in the foam.
What mess can I expect when the foam installers come?
Apart from washing up a few tea cups there will be no mess! We take great care to minimise any disruption and use protective dust sheets to ensure your house is left as clean as when we entered, we will not leave you any mess that we have caused.
How much will roof insulation and polyurethane foam save on my heating bills?
It all depends but you can expect to save about 75% of the heat that would otherwise escape from the roof which might translate to a 10 to 40% saving on your heating bills. You will notice a big difference to the comfort of your home in winter due to the excellent roof insulation. Roof insulation has a payback typically between 3 to 10 years depending on the current thermal efficiency of your home. With the new energy rating system about to be introduced with the Home Information Packs foam insulation will help move your property up towards the A category.
What are the main benefits of Iso-Spray Foam?
The main benefits are roof bonding and roof insulation and finacial savings over future roof repair bills and home heating costs. We can repair and bond a roof at much lower cost than a re-roof that will also offer excellent roof insulation qualities. Once bonded a roof will give 50 years or more of serviceable life and remain in good visual and working order. The foam allows the loft to be used as a room and eliminates water ingress, dust and drafts plus the house is much warmer.
How long does a typical Polyurethane Foam Installation take?
Most domestic property foam instllations take 1 to 2 days if the roof is in reasonable condition and scaffolding is not required.
Do Iso-Spray do new roofs
Yes. We did our first commercial contract for a new roof way back in 1975 on a row of terraced houses on the Birmingham New Road, Smethwick, West Bromwich! If a roof has deteriated to the point that the cost of repairs is almost at the point of a new roof then we believe that the customer would get better value from having anew roof installed.
Do you fit Velux Roof Windows?
Yes. We fit genuine brand Velux Roof Windows and not the cheaper roof windows that are also sometimes referred to as "Velux" but actually belonging to another manufacturer. We do not install Colt Roof Windows and do not stock this range of roof lights
